Our Story
Get to Know Us
Perkins & Sons is a family-run rum company built on heritage, craft, and a deep-rooted love for Barbados.
Founded by Gregory Cozier, our distillery is the result of generations of quiet immersion in the island’s sugar and rum industries, and a passion to bring something truly Barbadian to the world.
Though Greg spent most of his life in motorsport and creative industries, rum was always in the background, part of the stories told by his father, the legacy of his ancestor I.O.C. Perkins, who founded the original Perkins & Sons rum blending business in 1944, and the countless hours spent with the people who made Barbados rum what it is today.
Perkins & Sons today is led by Greg alongside his sons, Nick and Luke Cozier, his wife Vicki, and long-time partner and logistics lead Spencer Hutchinson. From our stills to your glass, every product we make, whether a bold Bajan white rum, a nuanced small batch release, or a hand-crafted gin, comes from the care of this close-knit team.
Our story is shaped by many hands and voices. We’ve drawn from the knowledge of historians like Karl Watson, Peter Webster, and Frederick Smith, and from conversations with a fading generation of sugarcane farmers, distillers, and storytellers. Their influence is built into everything we do, not just in the way we honour tradition, but in the way we reinterpret it.
At Perkins & Sons, our goal isn’t just to make exceptional rum and gin. It’s to bottle a piece of Barbados, its resilience, its warmth, its history, and carry it into the future, one pour at a time.
